Wings have and still remain a staple here in an area that offers no diversity in wings. As a place that remains a staple in Downtown Santa Cruz nightlife, it still remains a go to place for wings. They aren't for hot heads but if you want a good crispy wing for a decent price. They have it. A Sriracha forward sauce that is absolutely delicious. For the price, the portion is worth the cost alone. Tawne and Scott delivered incredible service. Has and will always be a must stop spot for fun and wings. Great staff. Tasty food and some good beers on tap. Nine pool tables, they charge hourly not per game. Ping pong tournaments on Thursday night. Only bar in Santa Cruz city with a pong table that I am aware of. Gets crowded for pong on Friday/Saturday nights. Good patrons as well.
If you don't feel like home when you walk in the staff definitely will change that. The drinks are priced well and the wings.... oh man the wings are to die for!
I didn't get any food, so I'm not rating that. I actually went on a Sunday night because my phone said they have table tennis tables there. I was told they do, but only on weekdays, and I haven't been back there since. I wanted to rate it high because staff was friendly towards me and answered my questions in cheerful and thorough manner. I really liked the vibe of the place and intend on going back soon.
Good atmosphere, mostly college age persons there. Besides 10 pool tables there are darts and ping pong. On the night I was there, they put on a beer pong tournament that really drew in the crowds. The kitchen stops food service at 10 pm. I can't comment on the food, I never had any. The bartenders were fast with the drinks and seemed friendly. All the staff seemed to enjoy working there.
Fun place to play pool and they also host Santa Cruz Chess club on Thursday nights from 6 pm to 10 pm which is a lot of fun too. The staff is friendly and the food and drinks are great!
Love this bar! The entire staff is super friendly and on their game. I've always gotten drink made well and quickly even when busy. The atmosphere is open and casual. It's a huge open floor plan with pool tables and plenty of seating to hangout with a few friends. The food is also off the hook, especially for being late night! I recommend the wings, they come in a variety of flavors, but my personal favorite is the lemon pepper. Always a great time when you end up at surf City!
